For the producers using MS Windows out there...

Just talked to a computer whiz who told me something I did not know. MS recommends formatting your hard drive every year or so, as the performance will gradually get worse and worse, to the point where hard disk recording, which requires optimal functionality, will be noticeabally compromised. Anyone else heard that?

And, anyone know if is it possible to copy applications back and forth between hard drives, or do they have to be reinstalled each time a drive is formatted?
