    Dave Haynes (Inspirit Music) - Charts/Newsletter 19.11.01

Welcome to another fortnightly newsletter. I have added quite a few people
to my list this time around (it now reaches over 700 people). If any of
these new people would like to remove themselves from this list please mail
    me back.

Feeling a bit under the weather at the moment as the UK winter creeps in.
Plenty of hot little tunes to warm the soul though.

Shouts to Mel @ Catapult this week with Soul Sista - Only You (Inspirit
Music) going straight in at no. 1 in Muzik mag's Vital Vinyl this month.
Thanks to Paul @ Afro Art too for hooking me up with the new Neon Heights
    wax, check below for details.

    Anyway, on with the charts.

    Peace - for now.

    1. The Rurals - Farmyard Flavours Vol. 2 - Viva Test Absolutely superb offering from the west coast (of the UK that is!). The Rurals come through with delightful deep house grooves, warm basslines and just enough noodles to keep the headz happy. Comes complete with the gorgeous downtempo affair 'Fallin'.

    2. Various - Nude Dimensions III - Naked Music In my opinion the best Nude Dimensions compilation thus far. "Blending a bit of electro, broken-beat and nu jazz" - the album makes for great listening. Including a dub mix of Nathan Haines' 'Earth Is The Place', Gaelle's 'Rain' and the Weekender mix of 'Step Into The Light', this is a definite must for the CD changer.

    3. Neon Heights - Cannonball - Afro Art 'Jazzual 2-step' courtesy of Nottingham's Cal Gibson. An unexpected blend of different elements all thrown into the mix whilst Paul Murphy gets active on the remix layering the horns over a busy percussive groove.

    4. Dub War - Murderous Style / Generation - Tempa Records Dub War take the usual Tempa approach with a unique dub meets 2-step vibe. The label's best release of late and if you haven't checked their sound already then go seek this one out.

    5. Atjazz - It's Complete Part 1 - Mantis Recordings Part 2 made it into the charts last time around but I have since changed my mind as to which offering I prefer- part 1 is the killer!! Phil Parnell's mix doing it for me every time.

    6. V/A - Future Sounds Of Jazz Vol. 8 - Compost Records Compost showing they can still put great compilations together. Number eight of this series bringing together the likes of Moonstarr, Atjazz and Attica Blues all in one package.

    7. Hidden Agenda / Jonny Siravo / 2 Seven - Tutti Frutti One -Tutti Frutti Solid stuff from Zest's new sister label Tutti Frutti.

    8. V/A - Soul Addiction - Cookin' Records Actually preferred the last Cookin' album but the artwork and packaging are so good I thought it deserved a place in the top ten this fortnight.

    9. Zero 7 - In The Waiting Line - Ultimate Dilemma Recently saw Zero 7 at Shepherd's Bush Empire and they were awesome. The album still sounds as good in the winter as it did in the summer. In The Waiting Line is their most recent single with remix duties coming from Richard Dorfmeister.

    10. The Beard - Someday - Phuturistix mix - Inspirit Music Still in the charts, and still making quite an impression. Soulful 2-step - taking things to the next level.

    Best of the rest...

Tito Heron - Tales From The Kukuland EP - Afro Art Soulstice - The Reason B/W Illusions (DJ Spinna remix) - Om Records The Beard Presents Soul Sista - Only You - Inspirit Music
