    hey there everyone!

I've been promising a return to the full(er) info format for this
not-so-little e-bulletin and dum-da-dum!, this is it. For those newer to
my email lists, the concept here is to spread word of good music, great
people, innovative radio and gigs not to be missed (with the occasional
ticket giveaway tossed in for good measure and as a thank-you for
reading 'n supporting). Toronto has become a healthy hub of activity,
with no shortage of talented DJ's, producers, artists, thinkers, doers
and dancers and I'm happy to do my bit to help spread the word...as well
as make the connections with the broader global movement.

    First some shouts to:

ï New York's DJ Swingsett who joined us last week at glide. I enjoyed
his set more than words can say...feeling high off the music for days,
literally. His blend of sweet broken beats, funky breaks, deep jazzy
drum & bass and more was LOVELY! Melodies for days. The man must be
heard to be believed. David, thanks for the gorgeous tunes. Props to you
and Lisa for being such sweet souls as well.

ï Yogi, Groove Institute and the whole Solid Garage crew. I was lucky
enough to play at one of their parties last month and enjoyed it to
bits. The vibe was soulful, people were really sweet and responsive
(into those piano rifts!), and guest Antonio Ocasio was positively
uplifting...made me wish I got to hear more of his set! Watch for the
Solid Garage Classics event happening Friday October 12 at Roxy Blu...as
well as the Soul Immigrants' (Yogi and d'pac) new "Brazilian Grooves"
    12" on DNH. Quality.

ï David Judah and DJ Chocolate who dropped solid dub and roots vibes
last night at a packed glide. Wow! Tunes were sweet, deep and often
overlooked...a real treat to hear so many gems dug up for the occasion!
An amazing crowd and vibe as well...if you were there, you know what I'm
saying. Thanks for making it so.

ï Moonstarr, Mano and the whole Public Transit Recordings crew. Congrats
on three years of making and releasing quality, unpredictable choons.
You guys have grown stronger with each release, for real. Those of you
out there who haven't heard Moonstarr's Dupont album, for example,
really should. Quality jazz, techno, broken beat 'n hip hoppity bizness
now also being championed by the likes of Rainer Truby and Gilles
Peterson. Watch for Moonstarr releases coming soon on Compost and
    Reinforced. Congrats Kevin!

ï Montreal's Fred Everything. I've loved his music for years, work like
mad to keep up with his releases and remixes (plentiful of late, but
must mention his awesome remix of Soulstice's "Fall Into You," a 12" on
OM)...and look for opportunities to get down to his funky bass-driven
house sound. Just found out from Mr. Everything that he's gonna be in
Toronto this Saturday Oct. 6, spinning from 12:30-3:00am at Roxy Blu.
Gheesh...we might as well all camp out at Roxy this weekend!

I could go on (and on), but we'll move now to the next Chapter. Read on
for ticket giveaways to 52 Inc.'s 'Back on the Block' jam and to Little
Louie Vega. This one goes out to the night owls since I usually send my
e-outs during the day. Good luck!
