    sounds like you're on some dj shadow ish w/that. i
    look at it this way. the harmless/strut/soul jazz
    comps are great ways of finding out what all that
    stuff is w/o buying a dodgy (i.e., bootleg) comp
    w/questionable sound quality for an exorbitant amt of
    money. also, if you have the original pressing of
    "fat albert rotunda" would you really rather take it
    to a gig when you can play "fat mama" off a comp
    that's much easier and cheaper to replace?

    hmmm... have you ever had to pack a dj bag w/o using
    comps? it gets pretty heavy!

    that's some collector ish... i happen to like to find
    the original (usually re-press if it's cheaper) but i
    don't hold that as a standard to judge people by. i
    like the original to find the (hopefully) overlooked
    dope track, or miscellaneous break for sampling...
