While most of you have never heard it, it is
considered to be one of the best and arguably most
influential hip-hop radio shows in Honolulu. My man
Kavet Omo has been hosting this show on KTUH, the
radio station at the University of Hawai'i, and after
four years, there is threat from the powers that be to
take this away.
Kavet has done a hell of a lot for hip-hop in Hawai'i,
and with his ohana of fellow MC's and DJ's, and
associates, it's only going to get better.
Anyway, I'm forwarding this letter he sent to me, as I
want to show my support, and hopefully you can too.
The Lightsleepers Show is one of the few (if not the
only true) radio shows in Honolulu that dedicates
itself to pure, underground hip-hop. If you are an
MC, group, or DJ who plans on vacationing back home,
e-mail Kavet directly and I'm sure he can hook you up
with information.

The LIGHTSLEEPERS radio show has been on the air
for over 4yrs now and exposed Hawaii and the world to
some of the dopest Hip-Hop on the planet.
Guests like Freeslyle Fellowship, Jeru, Style
Elements, 5th Platoon, Beat Junkies, ISP, Daddy Kev,
Awol, Shapeshifters, Visionaries, Peanutbutterwolf,
Disflex6, JKC, BTS, Josh Martinez, Anticon, LA Symp,
Bboy IVAn, and the list
goes on have graced the airwaves thru the
LIGHTSLEEPERS show....mainly providing local Hip-Hop
to shine in a wide forum while providing stimulated
music to the entire Hawaii Community. The
LIGHTSLEEPERS has gained a following by not being
trendy, but becoming trend setters and showing
no conformity to mainstream. It has also been a huge
influence pushing for better quality radio on KtUH and
other stations...
Due to upper management the are forcing the
LIGHTSLEEPERS off the air because I, Kavet the
Catalyst have graduated a year ago so i am no longer a
student.. Yes, that is the rule, still they have not
taken to account the impact that the LIGHTSLEEPERS has
on the education and the community. Please join with
