In an UNPRECEDENTED move, the Prodigy Online Service has decided to celebrate BLACK MUSIC MONTH in the year 2002.

As a part of this celebration, the Music Department of the Prodigy Online Service has decided to focus on the emerging trend sometimes referred to by Time magazine, VH-1 and VIBE Magazine as NEO-SOUL.

The Prodigy Music Department's website, which covers 36 different music genres is located at:
     http://communities.prodigy.net/music/

The site managed by Bob Davis will devote it's coverage for the remainder of June to the emerging sounds of NEW CLASSIC SOUL MUSIC, with commentaries, articles and profiles on the artists who are the driving force in taking this music to the people.

Davis says; "People are ready for a change, the world of R&B/Rap has been mostly devoid of signs of intelligent life for the past 15 years, and the fans aren't willing to accept such mediocrity in their music anymore".

One of the current features on the site is an article from the Arizona Republic dealing with this emerging musical force, giving an overview of some of the artists who have already broken through and into the public consciousness. It also includes a short interview with Davis, as he elaborates in more detail on the subject.

In addition to the article, the Prodigy Music Department's site will also profile three emerging artists from this new scene, along with links to their websites:

    · Rio Soul
LA-based Soul/Funk/Nu Soul band with a sound similar to a combination of Slave, Sade, and New Birth.

    · Lisa Gay and Thrill
Spotlighting compositions and covers, Lisa Gay is a jazz, R&B, groove, neo-soul, funk groove song stylist.

    · Sonny Boy
This neo soul/funk group led by Sheldon Riser, of the 1980's Prince offshoot group Mazarati.

Davis says; "although these artists haven't yet received the mass media exposure that others such as Badu, D'Angelo, Jill Scott, and others, they represent a group of artists who are ready to emerge from beneath the radar and make a serious move into the consciousness of fans who are seeking quality music".

Join the Prodigy Online Service in Celebrating BLACK MUSIC MONTH 2002 as it takes a very special look at NEW CLASSIC SOUL MUSIC.
