STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

Like I said on the air, anyone that's been in the RRR studio would
appreciate Justin Chapman's skills in pulling off a live mix. Skills and
taste are a fine but rare combination. He's pretty handy in other sorts of
studios too, as his work with Atlantan partner Kemit as Kemetic Just shows.
Their new EP will be out soon on Soco Audio with each doing a solo track
(Justin works under the name Just One) and one collabo. I'll be previewing
this record for you tomorrow. He also informs us that an LP is in the works
for French label Silver Network. More info at
http://silvernetwork.above-the.net/biokem.htm. You can check out one of
    their mixes there too.

Depending on your generation, therešs a good chance that the latin disco of
David Shirešs "Salsation" will be in either your own or your parentsš record
collection. Itšs part of the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack which is
apparently the second-biggest-selling record of all time (behind Michael
Jacksonšs Thriller). But don't hold that against it. It was a brave move by
Danish DJ/production team Ben Horn to sample the horns for their funky
breakbeat track Stripped Down (Voodoo) and that gave us a nice Trainspotters
    Corner.

If you're into Stylin Melbourne groups who can do it live, then don't miss
tomorrow's show - I'll have giveaways for tomorrow night's session at
Revolver featuring Plutonic Lab & Frances Tang, The Bamboos and Mr Jigga.

Tomorrow's guest will be the talented and eloquent Plunky Branch from
Oneness of Juju, talking about his remarkable music career in which his path
has crossed with jazz legends Pharoah Sanders and John Coltrane, afrobeat
legend Fela Kuti, disco DJ legend Larry Levan, hip hop legend KRS One and
sampled beats legends Coldcut. If you don't know already, by the end of the
    interview, you'll think Plunky's a legend too!

    until then
    Ennio Styles
