Could that really be Russian for 'we luv ya boots?' Find out below for another Cuki out of town excursion!

"Yes I really enjoy his stories, they make you want to travel, stay up too late and seduce women and listen to good music. But I ask myself when will this guy settle down, have a garden, a house, a dog, marry a woman and have children? We luv ya diapers!"
Er, whoever wrote that, get in touch cause I wanna send you a selection of Cuki audio treats. You got it right bro and Russian bunnies are the new lick wit da Cuki. Mind you, we did get the telephone number of that marine biologist who goes to Soulsugar on a Sunday night ;) Cuki now studying dolphins and bunnies while still managing to change his own diapers.

And talking about some recent e-mails! We had many a mail passed on to Cuki relating to cyberspace shenanigans on one of the forums a few weeks back. Cuki doesn't actually subscribe to the AJ list but ta to those who felt the need to forward on some mail about Cuki runnings in cyberwonderland.
Well, the way Cuki see's it, we're all gonna be a long time dead. Your stay on this little ol' planet is relatively short so Cuki reckons have a blast while your on it. If that means seducing women, travelling, and listening to good music, then yeah, go for it. About having a garden and dog? Cuki had a garden once and it was hard work, all that pruning and watering the daffies in the spring, and anyway the neighbours dog kept shitting in it. Cuki enjoys living above sea level now with his Stevie Wonder records. Er yes, bunnies and babas have also come and gone like the daffies and fuchsia's but Stevie still hangs around Bootsville. Yeah, Stevie Wonder records are for life.
Life is sweet but bloody short. Enjoy the life you live.

It's maybe a good time to inform a few about this so called Cukipapa (sue-key-papa) geezer. Yep, nothing to do with biscuits or cookies so next one to call me Cookiepapa gets a consignment of my mums Manilow records. The Cuki newsletter started over 3 years ago and it will be 4 years old in the fall. It started when his fax machine decided to throw a wobbly and he returned his reaction sheets and charts to the eight people who sent him records that week by the cyberspace connection. They loved the idea of electronic mail, all correspondence arriving in one piece and no worries about screwed and chewed up paper, ink cartridges, blank pieces of paper, rainforests. The great thing was that e-mail could be forwarded on, fax sheets need to be re fed and again we go through the whole shebang of what we tried to eliminate when this technology was invented. One click of your plastic rodent and voooooooom into cyberspace it went. Cuki noticed too that his telephone bills where getting cheaper. One click of this rodent was easier and cheaper then feeding 16 pieces of paper through a dodgy black thing and then getting four messages of error two minutes later. In time people asked to join the list directly and in nearly four years Cuki now mails directly to over 900 peeps. The circular though goes to many more! Forums and websites littered around the cosmos get the chart and news and this makes the readership even more. Back in the day Cuki would list some mighty hot choons too. These days though he charts only forthcoming bitz and bobz and the 'hush hush' stays firmly in the safe at Bootsville, these only making appearances at his DJ gigs and at Casa K's apartment in the 16th. Yes, it was at Casa K's that the term Dr Boots was created, but that's another story though! Cuki has noticed too the influx of similar newsletters and circulars now appearing in his inbox. Cuki's favourites are Nippon Niks, usually for the typo's and Japanese pressure, (it might as well be in Japanese with those misspellings) Phil Harmonix in Luxemburg for the 'Plastiks' info, the Ubiquitous and Soulful playlists of Andrew Jervis and Michael Rutten.
Cuki's list and news though comes with more then just a chart of choice choons being played out at Bootsville and selected clubs and bars across Europe. It comes with a respect for the boys and girls in our small scene that promote and live the music that we breathe. Someone once mentioned that I don't chart 'Masters at Work' records? Yeah, like they need the support from some small time operator and underground DJ in the 15th district of Vienna. I will though continue to give props to those that don't get the headlines. DJ's, promoters, artists, producers and music fans all over who quite often have to supplement their love of music with other mundane tasks and jobs. This newsletter is dedicated to them. My typing of the Cuki newsletter is just an extension of their passion for the music. Yes, it can be time consuming but passions usually are! I have no complaints
I actually get more of a thrill giving a shout to the peeps who I meet on my travels then listing the latest test pressing from this or that label. This part of the circular is probably the most enjoyable for me to write and in a few words I'll get to give you the brief from Moscow which of course gives me the opportunity to relive some great moments. A lot of fascinating trips have come about because of Cuki's circular and his passion for spreading the word. A lot of mail into the inbox each week heaping love and praise for Cuki's passion.
There is still a thrill though about all this great music and as the scene grows, Cuki's circular will follow. Next up will be syndicated radio show so you can hear some of these mighty choons. I will keep you posted on that one. Maybe in time too I will actually finish www.cukipapa.com Mind you, it never got started to tell you the truth. Web building! It took me four weeks to get my Viennese washing machine to work! Yes it's been idle for three years now but hey, we do things slowly here in Vienna. Even though I have only been in Vienna for 6 months, I must have been Viennese at heart while living in London. Next week I will give you the low down on my first half year in the beautiful city of Wien. Watch out Vienna massive.
So a little insight into Cukipapa. London boy living in Vienna, mad about music, travel and women. And in that order.
    Luv ya boots :)

OK then, off to Moscow we go! After a epic night in Vienna town listening to Peterson and Kruder rip up the session of the year so far, to the airport we go in search of Russian bunnies. GP's flight back to London is at 11.40, Dr Boots boards his Aerofloter for a 11.45 lift off. Funny how you meet other DJ's you've known for so long at airports in other countries! Anyway, Aeroflot cabin crew are the perfect example of how Russian bunnies are. Mystical, sexy, elegant and definitely 'in shape'. Even though MacDonald's has come to town, Muscovite bunnies are still in good 'nick'! No need to do any seducing either, they do all that for you.
I'm met at the airport by my two hosts for the next five days, and Paul and Ilya are two of the best hosts you could wish for. Young and enthusiastic about a foreign DJ coming to their club to play a selection of new tunes for their loyal and dedicated crowd. Both in their early 20's yet having a knowledge and understanding of what's hot and what's not. Yes, they were waiting to hear the new Stereotyp album with much anticipation, they know about things. It's 'May day' in Moscow but instead of rolling out those T-90 tanks and Intercontinental ballistic missiles, we roll out Cuki's blue hard case plastered with 'Fragile' and 'Heavy' stickers. The party is at the Territoria club http://www.territoria.ru/ just five minutes from Red Square. BTW, has anybody seen the size of Red Square? I mean that guy who landed a light aircraft on it a few years back, I reckon I could land a Boeing 747 blindfolded on it! Big or what! Anyway, back to May 1st 2002, the Wednesday night is dedicated to the DT promo posse who play a wide spectrum of musical delights right across the board. Paul played Neilson's 'Coconut' which sounded awesome. Ilya had me wandering over to the decks every other record to investigate what was sounding so good. Check the link at www.dt-own.ru for a pic of Cuki's last suntan and some funny Russian text. I gotta get out more we think, Cuki looking well pale and pasty these days! Back to the club and Alexia a top notch Russian bunny waitress serves us splendid food and cherry juice before the Boots musical throw down. The Territoria club is the perfect joint to relax before a big kick off and nuff bunnies in the locality to keep things interesting on the visual front. Maybe we can have a pic of Alexia on the next web update guys? Dr Boots lets rip for about three hours and is joined for the last hour by Paul and Ilya for a musical 'ping pong' battle. Not sure about other DJ's but Cuki loves going 'back to back' with the home grown crews on his journeys. It teaches you to be more adventurous and can be a lot of fun, especially when you don't know the track you are following! The night before I saw Gilles follow Peter and hit the stop button on Mr Kruder's selection of Jill Scotts 'Gimme' and hit the start button for Brass Constructions 'Changin'. A great DJ always has the right tunes in the box. We finally leave the club at about 6 in the am. Another long but worthy night out on the town for Cuki. Next day it is 24c plus and the Russian bunnies are dressed accordingly. Ilya and Paul take me on a guided tour of the many sights and sounds of Moscow. Thankfully, the streets of Moscow are extra wide as Cuki was sure to get run over by all the bunny activity out and about. This night we play at the Botanic club in the city centre. No web link but a nice sophisticated place to hang out, hear good music, drink cherry juice and scoff cool food. Cuki and friends never raising the musical tempo above 110 bpm.
Days 3, 4 and 5 and time to put away the records and really investigate the city. A city were every car is a potential taxi driver, every metro station deeper then the last one, the best collection of shoe shops on the planet, in fact Moscow should be renamed 'Shoe Shop City'. Trolley buses with lucky numbers as tickets, short skirts (maybe it was the weather), dark elevators, parades and enough fountains. Enough Lada's, postcards and photographs, Trip Hop and Acid Jazz, amazing buildings, a vibrant city full of life, culture and colour. Just some of the sights and sounds I experienced.
As always, I have to express my love and gratitude to all concerned. The peeps at the Territoria and Botanic clubs, the many wonderful people who stopped by to say hello and gave me lots of great music. The most thanks though to the DT promo crew of Paul and Ilya who looked after me as if I was one of their own. Hopefully I can return the wonderful hospitality to you both very soon here in Vienna. We finish with a 'Wi lyubim vas, Chuvaki'

Talking about Ade Fakile, Plastic Macdaddy, the Nigerian superstar indeed. We luv ya boots bro, even if they are red and white. Plastic People, the very best club in London town and now fitted with EMT 950 turntables for the tightest bass possible http://www.plasticpeople.co.uk/plastic.html Cuki enjoyed the Balance session very much. Very Superstar Playboy DJ bizinz Junior, You need to let me know when I can come out and see you. My Boots need filling with that extra fine Brown sauce. Big bro's ears need to hear the new lick doing it over in the European arena. But don't start going gabba on us!!! Theres a fine line in places like Germany, jazz or gabba. Keep it real as I've noticed your sets have become a little hard of late and that Evisu top of yours (y'know the furry one) is starting to look a little worn , Gabba uniform mate! Don't want to see lil bro in no mohican. Peace and gabba free love MK Ultra. And then there was this........ Hope you're well buddy, long time no hear. Looking forward to catching up with you at the end of the month. Say hello to the lovely ladies of Vienna and tell them that the way to a mans heart is through his curl activator. OK, we finish off with these shout outs........
Shout out to some peeps who have visited our landlocked shores of late. Christian aka part of the Microfish posse, Antal from Rush Hour in Holland, Samy aka DJ Morpheus and Truly, Sherri aka little Sista Soul, Chris the good Dr, Nadine, GP.
Lady Fuzz is 22 again! Check her b/day bash at London's 'Herbal' on the east side of town this coming Monday. Recloose spinning later at the same joint so essential night out. It all goes off early as Lady Fuzz busts the speakers at about 9pm.
More ladies, this time Vienna's 'Sistaz with flava', Austrian bunnies, spring time brings out the very best in bunnies for sure. Shout out to the Nightnurse and Nadja. Catch the Nightnurse early on at the Flex the Saturday. Actually spring was in the air a few Saturdays back. G Stone spring session at the Flex. Lots of lovely ladiez in da house also with a little fashion show going on the stage to boot. Ta to Dr Rich for letting the Cuki fire away some choice choons in the company of Scheibosan, Makossa and the man himself.

    And finally.........
Vienna crews, we have a plenty to offer this weekend. Cuki at Soulsugar/Porgy & Bess this Sunday and at the Dub Club/Flex 7th birthday bash this coming Monday.
And of course, don't forget the Stereotyp launch party supported by K&D this Saturday. Come see what all the fuss is about. The fuss is justified, this a brand new sound.

Dr Boots prescribes the following for your forthcoming aural pleasure.
*Nu Bitz to chart this week

    Stereotyp- My Sound (G-Stone) 3xLP
This a real true sound of creation, this a real true sound of revelation. So hear this! 18th district, 21st century, the protégé and time to blow the myth about Viennese music once and for all! ST comes with my personal favourite album of the year. And we know Cuki's judgement counts on this one! Yep, I've been waiting to chart this album for over a year and it might just stay here at the top of the tree for another one! Forget two step, we finally go Ragga step! It may have missed out in Nippon Nik's chart but that's probably because Stefan doesn't have a Japanese passport. Check the Flex this Saturday if you in Vienna for the launch party of My Sound

    Stereotyp - Un Dos Tres/Silence (G Stone) 12"
A little story! Once upon a time at 'Bite your Granny' with the infamous Nik Weston. Playing back to back with Nippon Nik and Cuki's turn to put a tune on the deck. Coffee's classic 'Casanova' out of the box and out of Nippons mouth comes ''It's all over Jazzanova''. End of story and a bit of nu jazz folklore there for ya. Anyway, with this twelve, it really is all over
Jazzanova. Two 'out of this universe' tracks and one being exclusive to the twelve.

Kaidi Tatham - Feed the Cat (BB Boogie remix)(Laws of Motion) 12"
Anthem in a certain BMW in Vienna! Yes the P_EACE man goes home the long way when this is playing on his 'in car' entertainment system. You'll need extra springs in the seats too if you follow suit. The Boogie have the bounce and this a perfect remix for Kaidi's next twelve. I'm sure I'm not alone when I say we want a BB album! You on it Mr I-Kue. Hats off to Chris for sorting out Dr Boots and Mr K with a nice pressing.

    *Microfish meets Stereotyp - (?) CD-R
Unsigned music so get your cheque books out boys and girls! Any of you kool kats check out the 'Keen' twelve by Microfish on Sonar Kollektiv a few months back? Because if you didn't, you missed a little beauty. That man Stereotyp added his touch to the package too with another rough rider of a remix. Well, they are back again, but this time no remix, just a proper collaboration of two wayward minds. In the deal you get the Baltic sea version finished in upper Germany by Microfish and you get the Viennese version courtesy of Stereotyp roughing it up once again in the 18th district. So is it any good! Well, I'm asking myself if pengiuns have cold arses? Did we create a little interest?

    Peace Orchestra - Reset (G-Stone) 3xLP
The P_EACE man sits proud! His protégé has delivered! His remix pals have come through with the 'readies' too. Talking about chums like Jimbo, those tango boys from Paris, the Chateau Flight crew also from Paris, the legendary DJ DSL, the wine collector from Freiburg, the Fluid Ounce boys, Messer's Rutten, Meitz, Komsa to name but a few. All good at Casa K's then. Now you can start the next album Mr P_EACE man ;)

    *Herbaliser - Mr Holmes (Agent K remix)(Ninja) 12"
Man of the moment Kaidi Tatham in spooky guise for this the forthcoming newie from the excellent 'Something Wicked' long player. Forget about dance floor broken beats and concentrate on this very funky soundtrack. Check the flip also for awesome bossa trip of 'Something Wicked' by the band themselves.

*Swell Session meets Ernesto - Let me decide (Broken beat versions) (Hollow) CD-R
That bonkerony broken beat track outta Gonkyburg just got even more broken. Sick, sick, sick, my London flat mates taking it up a notch or three. Told ya a while back that the Gonkyburg crews getting it together. Now we seeing Plej, Jol, Ernesto, Quant featuring in charts all over the joint. Next level biz from the boys, seek the forthcoming Tribes comp for the original cut but be prepared for these new rubs forthcoming on Gothenburg's own independent Hollow label. Proud of my Swedish brothers.

*Willie Bobo - Spanish Grease (Richard Dorfmeister & MDLA remix)(Verve) 12"
Universal praise for this being the stand out rework on the forthcoming Verve remix compilation. Classic percussionist gets funked up Vienna stylee but the beauty of the original still intact. Dr Rich coming through yet again like he did with the Koop remix. And you don't need to roll one up to enjoy either.

*Reluque Batuque - Rhythmix (Far Out) 2xLP
Concepts by 4 Hero, Fauna Flash, Big Bang, Viper Squad, Da Lata to name but a few, but it will be the versions from Zero dB and Osunlade that you will be hearing about I'm sure. Zero dB almost scale the dizzy heights they did with Suba and Osunlade gets warmer and warmer with each outing. Seek some twelve's with some serious Footie commentary too. My vinyl album thankfully comes minus the extravagant footie voice over.

*Koichi Ozaki - In the mood (Eurasian Suite) 12"
So glad that 'In the mood' makes the first point of listening on 002. Modern day model nu jazz in a similar vein to the Butti 49 'Spiritual vibes' that appeared on the last Compost FSOJ. Eurasian 001 was paving the way for this the next instalment from Hiroshima and an artist to watch in Koichi Ozaki. We look forwards to 003

    *Jazzanova - Soon (Mixes)(JCR/Compost) CD-R
Jazzy Jeff and Domu rub it up in their own intimate ways. Jazzy Jeff's touch of jazz and Mr Stanton's no compromise broken beat belters. Too many Jazznova remix projects to mention but this one along with the Ayro, Ian O'Brien reworks of 'Days to come' the ones to really watch out for.

    *Reelside - ? (Sirkus) 12"
Reelside is Domu! No info on the white but forthcoming on the Sirkus imprint. Maybe Rob can fill in the details for me. Anyway side A has Domu in Detroit disco mode while the flip has a two step mix which could actually be Maddslinky filling in. Another excellent Sirkus and Domu outing.

*Karin Krog - Meaning of love (Herbert remix)(Crippled Dick) 12"
Matty boy with another quirky little remix job to his credit. Karin Krog, famous Norwegian jazz diva gets knob twiddled big time. If you know the original then you know Matty boy having a field day twiddling the knobs. Keeping the tempo down as he did with the last Cinematic Orchestra twelve yet still enough groove to check your feet are moving in the right direction. As with all Herbert remixes, no guarantee that those feet are moving in the direction. We dance in circles and normally veering to the left too

Frankie Valentine - Intro Outro (Recloose & Volcov remixes)(Sunshine) 12"
Hats off to Claus at Sunshine for commissioning these two excellent remixes for our boy Frankie. The original makes the cut but Matt's and Enrico's mixes steal the show. Recloose super consistent as ever and some will say his best remix so far. The Volcov in his 4-4-2 formation takes it to a new level too! His best and most spiritual remix for sure I reckon. Yes, this is one very hot twelve.

    * G-Litter - V/A (Lifesaver) CD & 12"
TSOH? The sound of Helsinki that is! Stunning album and twelve from the best record shop in Finland. Check the twelve for the sweetest disco record of the new century. Check the flip for tasty re edit from Mika Snickars who runs another quality record shop, this time in Stockholm. We though at Bootsville getting deep with the album and we advise to seek all means in
getting a copy. Thanks to all in the shop for Cuki's copy.

    Heal - Bubblin' (Original & Broke Tek mixes)(Key) 12"
Watch this! I'm telling ya now! How ****ing monster is this! Two mixes killing me, both gonna blow up! The Simbad and Fred McQuinn turning up the heat. Forget the bagels, the best thing on Brick lane is this lot. Yes, get your notepads out boys and girls and jot down the details. A consignment of nu jazz and tek funk about to hit the streets and believe me,
there is a lot more where this came from. Bubblin' is red hot.

*John Beltran - Bota Foga (Ubiquity) 12"
Kickin' and the world cup footie hasn't even started yet. Our favourite label on the west coast gets hot and rhythmic with the bossa beats just in time for the Japanese and Korean party of world soccer. Yes, Bota Foga are a football team in Brazil and if they play anything like this record sounds then they are top of the league and winning plaudits with their stylish ball control, passing and dribbling. Next time I play this record in a club, I'm gonna throw a football on the dance floor and see what the effect is. It's a GOAL!

*BMF feat Swamburger - Pianist envy (Eight Dimension) 12"
Hip hop instrumentals just the way we like like. Cool, jazzy, juicy, tasty, makes me get the munchies and wanna eat it! Stand up bass and those essential piano loops hook you into the hypnotic state. Another tune that may require the services of a masseur after all that head nodding.

Emo - Relief for free (Butti 49 remix)(Stereo Deluxe) 12"
Stavanger takes it to the next level for Scandinavia. Seriously guys, get ready! Scandinavia coming with the next chapter in all vibes musical. The book never ends, and these pages belong to Northern Europe? Expect this one remix alone to make my man Snorre the hottest remixer around. This is sick and I'm not sure if my neighbours are complaining about the levels of sound or Cuki jumping up and down like a loon! Koop, Swell, Ernesto, Espen, Plej, Quant, Jol, NuSpirit Helsinki, all that stuff on the Raw Fusion label? Scandinavia is red hot and they are only just beginning.

*V/A - Between or beyond the northern lights (Crippled Dick) 2xLP
More Scandinavian excellence. This time old school biz featuring all ya Northern favs from a time gone by. Bob Azzam, Karin Krog, Olli Ahvenlahti, Sabu Martinez, Mamba and quite a few others. No doubt Kenny Dope can find a sample or two here not to clear. Crippled Dick on it regarding these great compilations and reissues of not to be forgotten artists. Will we get a comp called 'Between or beyond the M25 motorway'

    *Roland Brival - Creole Gypsy (Isma'a) 1xLP
Another classic dose of reissue and many will be in for a treat if hearing this for the first time. Check the first issue of 'Racubah' - A collection of Modern Afro rhythms on the Comet label a few years back if you need reminding of how good this. Jon Lucien goes Afro Jazz is the best way to describe this. 'Just for you' one of the best tunes outta France ever. Essential album if you haven't got it.

Q-Burns Abstract Message - The Innocent (Scuba remix)(Eight Dimension) 12"
I spend so much of my life looking for house music that dares to differ. I need to look no further then that man King Britt. Lisa Shaw, Naked music vocalist and King takes her to new levels of deepness and spirituality. But then again King the king of extracting the very best from a Divas voice. Those who are still hunting the Michelle Shaprow, then this may go some way to quenching your appetite.

Larissa Kapp - You (Neglige) 12"
Deep, moody and definitely Detroit in feel. In fact, think King Britt and his Scuba guise moving to the Motor City and you may get the picture. House not house, twisted, fragile but all music. Excellent release forthcoming from Germany via Viennese distribution. Could be large if any of the big dicks get to play it.

*Soulive - Clap (Blue Note) 12"
Black Thought, Talib Kweli both appear on this but it is Amel Larrieux who pinches it. So why aren't all those London soul boys charting this fine slice of RnB come hip hop. Er, can't actually tell ya but I'm sure they will in time. They just need a bit of Cuki information that's all.

Bobby Hughes Combination - Kerma Elastica (Karin Krog re-vocal)(Stereo Deluxe) 12"
Check the flip! Oh my god! Oli and the Cuki losing it big time at ST club! If only we could get Chich to dance! And where was Dr Boots with his medication in all this chaos! Well, I told ya about this track appearing on the next 'Coming Home' selection for Oli's Stereo Deluxe label. This though a Karin Krog re vocal on the 'B' and it is worth wetting yourself for. The track that every one has been bugging out for, for so long. I first heard Lil Tony play this one night at the Kerma Club well over a year ago in Helsinki and maybe it really is dedicated to one of the best clubs in Europe.

*DJ Marky & XRS Land - LK (V Recordings) 2x12"
Next instalment of drum n bass Brazilance from the boys from Brazil. Not sure if they can pull it off in Japan but on the drum n bass scene they are world cup holders as far as I can hear. Yep, another big tune to bring sunshine and smiles to the dance floor. More of the same please.

*Cinematic Orchestra - Everyday (Ninja) 2xLP
The follow up to 'Motion' and the often difficult second album is by passed by directing the sound in another direction. Out with all the Herbie Hancock, Art Blakey and Buddy Rich 'lifts', yes did anybody notice that the last Cinematic album was a complete rip off! In with a deep, moving and sometimes emotional drama of a long player. 'Everyday is a home movie in music form and one album that time will truly be the judge of.

    J Live - Charmed Life (Instrumental)(Coup D'etat) 12"
Is it me or did all the music I pick up on my travels just happen to be of the highest quality. The best instrumental doing the rounds. Hip hop meets jazz! I guess we can all blame Madlib for that? It's spirituality lays in its simplicity. The beauty of model hip hop is here and it's pure class. Check the flip too for a melodica lead reggae instrumental. And these from the new
school of hip hop. And when you have checked the twelve, go seek a wonderful new album from the crew too.

    V/A - Tribes Vol 7 (INFRACom) 3xLP
Mr Michael Rutten, one of my favourite DJ's and certainly one of the very best musical selectors around. The comp is called 'Soul Searching' and soul it finds with ease. As always with the Tribes selection a few undiscovered gems to go along with some of our favourite tracks of recent months. So do we really need another compilation? Yes we do when they are of this quality. Check dem kids from Gonkyburg, the Swell session meeting Ernesto for a slice of Andreas getting all sweaty and broken over Domu. Wicked exclusive.

? - The Moose track (Bobby Hughes Combo remix)(?) 12"
OK Cuki gonna have a bit of fun here! This is hot but I can't unfortunately tell you who it is. Some bloke on the organ got the hump and it's not gonna be official. Only a few hundred pressed so seek. Is it a sheep or is it a mousse? Who cares, all we know is that it is hot. Some label with a top notch geezer at the controls and some wicked releases in the pipeline. I
reckon Chich would dance to this if only I could lift her from her Cherry juice

    Jazzanova - That night (Wahoo remix)(Recreation) 12"
Well, there's a deluge of remix pressure soon come for those Berliners but Dixon quick off the mark in getting his own excellent remix on the next instalment of 'Off Limits'. Our favourite mix here in Wien and nice to have on a juicy twelve.

A Bossa Eletrica - Tomba in 7/4 (Raw Fusion) 12"
New label on the scene from the main man in Stockholm DJ Mad Mats. This first release a 'all about town' bossa bonanza. Versions of 'Tomba in 7/4', 'Maria da mercedes' and 'Vera Cruz' light the fuse nicely. Strong interpretations and all on the live tip too. 6 of them front the band.

Stockholm Cycle - Tree Shaker (Raw Fusion) 12"
More frantic moves from Sweden. Electronic dance music it is and Detroit textures with a slices of broken beat almost blossoming through. Raw Fusion is an apt name for label that will promote this kind of music. The guys have found a good home here.

    V/A - Rewind (Ubiquity) 2xLP
To drawer selection of cover versions. All over the place too. Epic versions of Golden Brown, Heaven must be like this, Daylight, and a 'out there' reggae version of Billie Jean by the Shinehead of which Mr Jervis is very proud off. Check the cover cause it really does look like Pete from BBE. If it is, then you need glasses bro! UPDATE, UPDATE, UPDATE, Pete insists it isn't him but were not so sure.

Seelenluft - Out of the woods (Klein) CD & 12"
My six track sampler just turned into a full blown album! Next level of eccentric mood making and sonic soundscaping getting ready to be released at the end of April. Even those who enjoyed the excellent Synchronschwimmer EP last year in for a shock and a treat. Typical late night listening here at 'Bootsville'. Who needs dreams! Check a twelve out too with mixes for the masses.

The Bug feat Tikiman - Live & Learn (Klein) 12"
Those adventurous boys at the 'small' office on the ball with this one. But then again, Klein the most fearless label I know and that's why I love them. Something called the Bug with that man Tikiman doing the do. Told ya, it's about future Raggastepping bro.

Jimpster - Domestic Science (Kudus) CD-R
Another complete album from Jamie. The man with the groove in his bones and talent all the way from his shoe laces to his big generous smile. Yeah he really is nicest guy and his music is the bomb. Another CD that keeps on getting stuck in the player here at 'Bootsville'. And with all Jimpster productions, diversity in abundance. Songs, grooves, everything you need in album. If music really is a journey and Jamie's music is one in the first class seat. Excellent stuff.

Uschi Classen - Soul Magic (Earth Project) CD-R
Uschi pushes the envelope even further. 10 top selections from the forthcoming album and reinforcing the super consistent Earth Project imprint. Past favs like 'Home', 'Now Illuminate are included too. Eska and Robert Owens list as featured singers. Future soul, funk, jazz a plenty.

Gotan Project - Triptico (Peter Kruder 'Trip De Luxe' remix) 12"
This back in Fall! Secret rendezvous at the Wirr! Dr Boots undercover bizniz with his big mac on. Man dressed in black walks in with a package. Dr Boots unnoticed, slips this package into his raincoat. Thankfully the raincoat is heat resident cause this package is hot. So hot, he needed oven gloves to put it into the CD player when he got home. Aiight, the best dance record of the new century gets the Viennese treatment. And oh my god, what a treatment it is. P_EACE ,man delivers what Dr Boots thinks is his finest and most respectful remix ever. A tough job to remix the Triptico track. Its just so f**king awesome as it is. But Mr Kruder comes through with flags, horns, bells, flying colours and a big smile on Cuki's face! Rumour has it, that it will be in the shops next week.

    Jazzanova - In Between (JCR/Compost) CD-R
Well, if you need oven gloves for the 'Trip De luxe' mix then you need full asbestos lining to protect you from the heat with this 13 tracker. Jazznaova come through with the first of what we hope will be many long players. 'In Between' is everything Jazzonva promised to be. All the other tracks they did before, all the remixes! They were just the paving the way for this baby. And you know how good the tracks before were! In da shops in that mad packaging. We luv it.

Rima - Try to understand (Papa) 12"
The pressure mix the one for me. Another worthy outing for the Rima crew and Papa just going from strength to strength. Already at number 9 and no signs of holding back in the quality stakes. Expect all the west London boys to be playing this. Check the excellent Everyday People twelve too featuring Marcus Begg.

This weeks Java Joint and just for Sampsa
Eddie Russ 'Take a look at yourself'
    Monument records, MG 7620 (1978)
One of the most underrated keyboarders of the jazz-funk era. Eddie only made two albums for the Monument imprint but both have stayed within reaching distance of my turntables ever since I have had them (and I had them back when they came out). We focus on the second album called 'Take a look at yourself' for pretty much of the same from the first album called 'See the light' (still my all time favouite jazz funk album). Funky as mosquito's tweeter as they say, 'Tea leaves' being a classic London soul boy anthem and the seductive 'I heard that' being another classic track that still today gets a blast by those that know. It's the 'Feelin fine' track that caused the most chaos with my jazz funk friends back our youth, Eddie firing on all cylinders with his Arp String Ensemble and Fender Rhodes. Hope you got it covered Sampsa?
