    Hey AJlist,

About that whole Q-Tip thing. I've had the promo for a while now and
there are elements of it that I really really dig. He's looking to
Roy Ayers on this one, definitely bringing in a lot of soul
influences. He's got a great, warm sound. I heard it's entirely
    self-produced - but I can't confirm that.

There are some discouraging moments on the album though - too many
out of key solos, some sequencing problems. The reviews based on the
pre-release have been less than glowing. The people I've played it
for generally react badly. So I've been kind of wondering what kind
of reception it's going to get from the public.

As I understand it, the US release date for Q-Tip's new Kamaal The
Abstract LP is September 16th. Now, the promo has been out and about
for a couple of months already. This probably means that Arista has
sent the album back to the studio for more work. We'll see in
    September I suppose.

    Cheers,
