Album Review :: Satoko Fujii Trio/Bell the Cat!

    source: Jazz Review

    Featured Artist: Satoko Fujii Trio
    CD Title: Bell the Cat!
    Year: 2002
    Record Label: Tokuma Japan Communications/onoff
Style: Free Jazz / Avante Garde
Musicians: Satoko Fujii, piano, composer, leader. Mark Dresser, bass.
    Jim Black, drummer.

Review: BELL THE CAT! is Satoko Fujii Trio at its finest! This is a
wonderfully surreal and invigorating collection of original songs by
composer-pianist Satoko Fujii. Brilliant, full of verve and spunkiness,
enjoyable, these 7 jazz adventures will delight all fans of the work of
    Satoko Fujii.

The 7 songs are: "Silence," "Get Along Well With...," "Slowly and
Slowy," "Confluence," "Foot Step," "Bell The Cat!," and "Champloo."
"Bell The Cat!" is an adventure in sound, and it has a swing feel about
it. One of my favorites on this collection is "Champloo," which is full
of melody and comes across as an original jazz folk song.

I recommend this collection to those who enjoy the Satoko Fujii Trio,
for it is one of their finest to date. BELL THE CAT! is a winner, and
    sure to surprise!
