    Hello Everybody!!

    Hope all is well...=20
    =20
    Here comes the weekend and my weekend starts NOW!! Here's=20
    what's spinning in my CD changer for this weekend:

    (1) Tony Allen- No Accomodation for Lagos/No Discrimination
    (2) Susana Baca- Same
    (3) Blaze- Spiritually Speaking
    (4) Blindside- Silence
    (5) Arthur Blythe- Focus
    (6) Kerri Chandler- Excusions 1
    (7) Roy Davis Jr.- DJ Mix
    (8) Julie Dexter- Dexterity
    (9) Chico Hamilton- Thoughts Of... <---do you have your copy =
    yet??!!??!!
    (10) Liquid Soul- Evolution
    (11) Project 86- Truthless Heroes
    (12) Paul Weller- Illumination

     What's in yours??

    I don't know about you guys but I am personally suprised, given the =
    general
    state of the music industry, at the number of genre defining albums =
    which have=20
    recently been released- any thoughts??!!??!!

    BIG BIG shouts out of thanks to everyone who came out to chat with Chico =

    this past Wednesday at the debut LIVE web chat at www.speakeasylive.com; =

    thanks for all the positive feedback about the NEW Official Chico =
    Hamilton web=20
    site at chicohamiltondrums.com; and thanks for ALL the continued support =

    expressed thru your purchases of "Thoughts Of..." at www.amazon.com =
    where=20
    Chico's new album remains on sale for $14.99. On the horizon are some =
    special=20
    promotions/contests revolving around Chico's cover versions on "Thoughts =
    Of...",=20
    of Joe Claussell's dancefloor classic "Je Ka Jo", and the Modfather Paul =
    Weller's=20
    anthemic "Bull-Rush"!! Stay tuned for further details!!

    Shout back.

    Thanks.

    Peace.

    Keep the Faith.

    Jeffrey

    Here's the latest write-up of Chico Hamilton's "Thoughts Of..." from =
    Face=20
    Oct. 2002 issue: "The American cultural machine tends to want us to =
    focus=20
    on the next "hot new" guy or girl. Jazz musicians though, often get =
    better=20
    with age. A strong case for this point of view can be found in the spate =
    of=20
    new releases by mid-career-and-beyond artists who continue to produce=20
    quality work. Percussionist Chico Hamilton is one of those artists who =
    has=20
    hung in there releasing the occasional disc and producing a consistent=20
    body of work, rooted in the bop-to-modal-to-funk jazz that emerged in =
    the=20
    late 50's. He swings like a demon and his new "Thoughts Of..." (Koch) is =
    a=20
    prime example of small combo, piano-less jazz at its best. The disc =
    features=20
    both originals and classics playing tribute to some of the jazz =
    pantheon. Miles,=20
    Trane and Prez all get worthy consideration but it's Hamilton's tunes =
    like=20
    "Space for Stacy," with wonderful flute work by Karolina Strassmayer, =
    that=20
    really got me going. Hamilton group alumni Larry Coryell, Joe Beck and=20
    Rodney Jones also contribute to this solid little disc that I like more =
    every=20
    time I hear it."
