On tonight's show, Chris and Neil from Zero dB / Fluid Ounce will be
joining us for an interview and a few of their favorite tunes. Expect
current faves, songs that inspired them as producers and some
unreleased material as well. They played a terrific set at pHusion
this weekend and also ripped it up on KUSF's Future Breaks and the
Beta Lounge. Big up to Velanche Stewart from KCPR, who drove up from
San Luis Obispo for the gig. It was good hangin' with ya!

The result of all this excitement is lack of sleep, so before I leave
keyboard marks on my forehead, here's some of the new stuff:

Boom Bip: "Seed To Sun" - Released through Warp's new subsidiary
label - Lex. I gave it the once-over when I got home this evening and
I daresay it may be one of my favorite albums of the year so far.
Bryan Hallan explores a darker side of hip-hop that's rooted in
abstract jazz, rock and other genres.

Lemon Jelly: "Lost Horizons" - If you liked the collection of singles
that were released last year, you'll flip for this new album. The
songwriting has matured considerably and tracks flow from one to
another with a natural, organic feel. This is top shelf stuff.

Julie Dexter: "Dexterity" - A brilliant follow-up to the "Peace Of
Mind" EP and a must for soul / jazz fans everywhere. Julie's songs of
love and faith are delivered straight from the heart and the band
keeps the grooves locked down tight. Check http://www.juliedexter.com
    for more info.

"Select Cuts From Blood & Fire: Chapter Three" - The last in the
series from Manchester's Select Cuts, classics from Big Youth,
Gregory Isascs, Horace Andy and others are given the reconstructive
touch by contemporary producers such as Walkner M=F6stl, Groove
Corporation, Smith & Mighty and many more. Crucial.

"Scattered Snares Vol. 1" - 4 Hero's Marc Mac compiles some
outstanding drum & bass, techno & broken beat tunes for his Twisted
=46unk label and comes up a winner. This is the dope shit.

V/A: "The Only Blip Hop Record You Will Ever Need: Vol. 1" - An
excellent compilation of glitchy, dubby goodness compiled by David
Byrne & Yale Evelev that reads like the proverbial who's who: Mouse
On Mars, Pole, Doctor Rockit, Safety Scissors, To Rococo Rot.....the
list goes on. Byrne says "I have seen the future and it is squiggly"
and he just may be right.

There's plenty more where that came from, so fire up your radios
and/or laptops and join the fun!

    Ciao for now,
    David
