    1. United Future Organization “Everyday Routine” (Cuttin’ Edge)

The long awaited “V” album has finally arrived. Better late then never.
Probably the best U.F.O. work so far. The album has arrived together with a
surprising piece of news: one of the three amigos, Toshio Matsuura, has left
the band to start his own production. So, now U.F.O. is the duet of Raphael
and Yabe. However, the sleeve-notes for the album are written by Toshio and
here is what he says about the “Everyday Routine” track: “Every first
Saturday of every month we are doing our “Free Form” show on the J-Wave
radio station. Once during the show Raphael has played a track that had that
sample - “tired everyday routine”. These words have fixed in our minds… and
we decided to use them in one of the tracks. As a matter of fact, we’ve
finished the production work for this one during 3 days. I think one can
feel that the main thing here is the distinctive idea and the power of
    concentration”.

    2. Cinematic Orchestra “Everyday” (Ninja Tune)

Even before “Every Day” album has arrived to Moscow, we already knew – this
is going to be a classic. If Gilles Peterson uses one track from an album
for his compilation – you must go and buy the whole album. Well, you all
    have it already, don’t you?

    3. Stereotyp feat. Tikiman “Fling Style” (G-Stone)

“Fling Style” was the anthem of this summer for me. Once again much respect
to our dearest Alan “Cukipapa” Brown for giving me this. Really, this is
ragga-step! Tikiman on vocals. Check him out here – www.tikiman.de

    4. United Future Organization “Esperanza” (Cuttin’ Edge)

Ambient sounds mixed with Spanish guitar – another astonishing track from
the new U.F.O. album. A two minute acoustic-guitar solo played by Naohiko
    Higuchi.

    5. Megablast “Tribute EP” (Into This)

Another beautiful record from Vienna. Megablast is a Viennese musician
Sascha Weisz. Four tracks – four downtempo acid-jazz masterpieces. Very
deep, very sunny and very …“african” sound, i should say.

    6. Shanti Roots feat. Sheibosan “Afrique” (Vienna Scientists)

Another “african” record. And again from Vienna. Shanti Roots bring us an
    electro-funk dancefloor killer. Tribal!

    7. Earth Leakage Trip “String Thief” (Cookin’)

This track comes from the 3rd “Ingridients” compilation on Cookin’ records.
Compiled by maestro LTG Bukem who shows his splendid taste in downtempo
music. This tune made me think of “Riders on The Storm”.

    8. Koop “Bright Nights” (Rima Techno chimp dub mix) (JCR)

The second single from the already-a-classic “Waltz for Koop” album. Yukimi
Nagano on the vocals again. Rima aka Domu aka Volcov from Archive records
does two wonderful remixes. Techno chimp dub mix is a wonderful example of
how one should make a dance-tune out of a non-dance tune, keeping the
aesthetics of the original untouched. Bravo Rima, bravo Koop!

    9. Art Konik “Ming Park” (Comet)

My favourite tune from the “Vendetta Society” album. Dark jazz broken beats,
saxophones and voices calling for Charles Parker create an inimitable mood.

    10. Deejedies “Cosmo Picnic” (?)

“Deejedies” is the export-name for the band called Nuclear Losü. Three guys
from the Siberean city of Novosibirsk made the best Russian acid-jazz album
so far. Actually they call their music not “acid-jazz” or “nu jazz”, but
“porno jazz”! Watch out for them.

    11. Jazzanova “That Night remixes” (JCR)

Two wonderful remixes made by Attica Blues’ Tony Wachchuku and Vikter
Duplaix himself. But i still like the original better.

    12. Jazzanova “Days To Come remixes” (JCR)

Now finally i dig this tune! Two great remixes from Ayro and Ian O’Brien
explained everything. Ayro has even added his own vocals to “Days To Come”,
besides that he gave JCR people 8 mixes and they say they had big problems
to figure out which one was the best. O’Brien’s remix is also a great
example of how a remix work should be done.

    13. Waldeck “This Isn’t Maybe” (Mushroom Dive’s Lo Fly Push Up
    2002) (Dope Noir)

The remix album for Waldeck’s “Night Garden” is out on Dope Noir. This cd
has two versions of “This Isn’t Maybe”. Mushroom Dive do the deep-house
remix, which opens the album and takes you somewhere far far away.

    14. Moonstarr “Dupont remixes” (Compost)

Kevin Moon, aka Moonstarr has released his Dupont EP on Public Transit
Records in 2001. The record was charted by Rainer Truby and GP, and
Moonstarr’s track “Dust” was included into “Future Sound Of Jazz”
compilation. Now Compost records release new remixes of the killer-track
“Greed”. One comes from Nu Era (which is Marc from 4Hero) and one from
    Moonstarr himself. Superb dancefloor stuff!

    15. Dinah Washington “Is You Or Is You Ain’t My Baby” (Rae & Christian
    Remix) (Verve)

My personal favourite track from the beautiful “Verve Remixed” project. “Is
you or is you ain’t my baby?” – even William Shakespeare couldn’t say
    better.

    16. Alexandroid “Ksanty Note” (Fono)

Alexandroid – are Alex & Android, two guys from Riga, now living in Moscow.
Alexandroid are making all kinds of intelligent electronica, from ambient
and noise to techno and industrial. But “Ksanty Note”, which comes from
their album “God Delusion”, is a piece of beautiful and very lyrical d’n’b.
    Bukem should have this one!

    17. Les Gammas “Outra Vida” (Eddy & Dus remix) (Compost)

We’re keeping on listening to the “Outra Vida” remixes. Eddy & Dus come with
a version which is even more interesting then Patife’s. Starts as sweet
downtempo and then evolves into cool d’n’b. Well-attuned and interesting.

    18. Erik Sumo “Just A Woman” (Inverse Cinematics fucking remix) (Pulver)

Stuttgart-based Pulver records release Erik Sumo’s “Just a Woman/ Pretty Nu”
EP. Erik is from Budapest where he is doing a radio show together with
Keyser & Shuriken also known as The Crate Soul Brothers. All four tracks of
this EP sound fresh and bizarre in a good way. But i like the Inverse
Cinematics’s “fucking” remix best of all. This is porno jazz, indeed. Tasty
    stuff!

    19. Dj Matt “The Way I Swing” (original mix) (InfraCom!)

Dj Matt who is a trained jazz musician shows how the contemporary club
music should sound today. “The Way I Swing” tune is really a nightmare for a
musical critic: try to imagine Detroit techno with broken beats and a
jazz-piano break in the middle. It sounds like… well, it sounds!

    20. Binder & Krieglstein “Midnight Journey” (Zeiger)

Austrian duet Binder & Krieglstein comes with a very interesting album
“International”. “Midnight Journey” reminds Cinematic Orchestra, but sounds
    much more darker and aggressive.

    21. Minus 8 “A Concha Cor De Rosa” (Compost)

From the new Minus 8 album “Minuit”. Heavily influenced by Patife & Marky.

    22. Dzuma “Cafe Torino” (Snegiri)

Dzuma is Vladimir Dzumkov’s band based in Tallinn, Estonia. Their “Dreambox”
album is out on Russia’s biggest easy listening/ lounge label Snegiri. Very
fresh and nice muzak which gives you a warm feeling.

    23. Herbaliser “Good Girl Gone Bad” (feat. Wildflower) (Ninja Tune)

“She is beautiful, she is smart, she is a fighting hellcat, she is
dynamite!!!” Man, i love female rap. And Herbaliser knows how to do it.
