Modern Groove Assembly (MGA), will be bringing another hot night of live
jazz breaks, deep house, and nu soul to the Temple Bar, 1026 W. Wilshire,
    Santa Monica.

    Cover $7, 21 and over.

The MGA is an all-star band featuring the creme de la creme of LA's session
and touring players...all getting busy with nu styles of soul, jazz, and
funk, playing original tunes and slickly reworked jazzdance cover material
from the likes of Masters at Work, Herbie Hancock, Roy Davis Jr., Stevie
Wonder, Marc De Clive Lowe, Jessica Lauren, and more...

The band features incredibly talented vocalist, producer, Emmy nominated
songwriter, and actress Sy Smith. In addition to her own crictically
acclaimed releases, the DC native, who was featured lead singer on The Brand
New Heavies latest (Japan only) release "We Won't Stop," has been touring
Eurpoe and America with Frank McComb (New Sector Movements) and Meshell
    N'degeocello.

Also, with bassist and composer Ian Martin; the Berklee film scoring grad
has an original track on the latest "Organic Soul" comp., and as a bassist,
has toured and performed with Res, Maxwell, and Julie Dexter, and was
bassist on Ronnie Jordan's "Brighter Day" lp on Blue Note.

Drummer Forrest Robinson, new in town from Atlanta, is India.Arie's touring
drummer. Percussionist Stewart Killen, from Bethesda, MA, brings authentic
gogo flavor from gigs with the super talented Masa Chipembere, vocalist
Lena, and LA jamfunk favorites Orgone.

Master of woodwinds Louis Taylor has played and recorded with just about
every significant figure in jazz and R&B music in the last 20 years... and
that's no joke.... with the sweetheart of Watts, Kelli Stanton, Nieves
Malandra, MC Frog 1, and the loveable DJ Theory of Open Minds...
