STYLIN - Rare grooves, hi-tech jazz and other worldly fusions
Friday afternoons 12-2pm RRR 102.7FM, Melbourne
Live online - http://www.rrr.org.au/index2.html (see below for times)

    Hello all

The most exciting thing about Melbourne super-producer/guitarist/DJ Lanu is
that he's rapidly been doing all these great tunes in so many styles and yet
it feels like he's just getting started. Here are some new and upcoming
    things to look out for:
    * New label Equatorial with partner Bennson. First 2 releases by Bennson and
Lanu respectively are both killer and getting serious props from London to
Tokyo to Perth! Next up they'll be collaborating as "No Comply" and also
releasing the debut EP from former Stylin guest Eddit (formerly known as
    Lazyboy).
    * An amazing downtempo soul tune with Christin Deralas on vocals for the
forthcoming Local People EP 002. Could be an Ennio Styles remix in the works
here, not to mention our previous collaboration "Psybossa" being remixed at
    the moment too.
    * Deep funk done proper with the Bamboos. Their new version of the classic
"Tighten Up" is killer and getting interest from some serious labels - watch
this space. Meanwhile a "remix" for one of Quantic's collaborations, The
Limp Twins, is due out on Tru Thoughts. Check the Bamboos live around
Melbourne and Australia, especially when they're doing it with horns.
    * Plus he's tasty on the decks too - check him guesting from time to time at
Kano's Str8Up sessions on Fridays at Revolver or late late Thursdays
    presenting Midnight Marauders on PBS-FM.

This Friday, I'll have an interview with one of the early champions of the
Bamboos, London DJ and percussionist Snowboy. He'll be playing in at
Republica in Melbourne this Saturday night.

    until then
    Ennio Styles
