Here's a heads up for all our friends;
The Modern Groove Assembly will be bringing live jazz breaks, deep
house, and nu soul to Free Thinking at Boardner's (corner of Cherokee
and Hollywood Blvd.) on Friday, Feb 28th. Admission is FREE and MGA hits
at midnite on the dot.
If you haven't had a chance to see us for a while, come check out the 10
piece nu jazz superensemble, featuring Forrest Robinson (India.Arie) on
drums, Ian Martin (Maxwell, Res, Ronnie Jordan) on bass, Maestro Louis
Taylor (Ray Charles, Gerald Wilson, Karl Denson) on the winds, Stewart
Killen (Orgone, Masa Chipembere) on percussion, DJ Theory, F.R.O.G. 1
(Streets Radio) on turntables and lyrics respectively, and featuring
special guest Sy Smith (Brand New Heavies, Whitney Houston, M'Shell
Ndegeocello, Macy Gray, Star 69) on vocals. With yours truly acting as
music director and keyboardist.
For those of you who don't know, "Free Thinking" is an L.A. institution;
DJ's Louis FS and Cade love you long time. it's where the beautiful
people are at, and you never know who you might see in the crowd.
