Now, they're smoking! I heard of them for the first time yesterday
(Thursday), and saw them later yesterday evening (here in Grass Valley, CA).
They are from San Diego, and are influenced by the Greyboy Allstars.
Alfred Howard is a beat poet, and they perform super groovy heavy hip-hop
hard-funk. Like Band of Gypsies meets The Dead meets Grant Green. Al's
lyrics are amazing. He's shared the stage with two of his idols, Karl
Densen and Zach de la Rocha. Al is like a sped up Saul Williams. The band
consists of drums, bass, big-box guitar (no lameo Fender), B3/Rhodes (not
real, at least on the road, but the organ was made by Hammond), and
    percussion/vibes.

Any of you SoCal guys allready fans or cohorts?

I remember a guy on this list working for an acidjazz magizine in San Diego
named something like "Step Jazz" or "Jazz Step". Is he still on the list?
Does that magazine still exist? If so, well you probably allready have, but
you should interview these guys in your magazine!
