Just to correct you, Pauline is a woman and is
considered by some to be a pioneer of electronic-based
recordings. Her techniques of using "found sound" in
the 50's paved the way for other methods of creating
music and "sound pieces" from other sources, which
would be pioneered by the likes of The Beatles and
King Crimson with the mellotron, and digital samplers
in the early 1980's.

There is a great interview with her, a cover story, in
a back issue of "Signal To Noise":

Some people may know her for her work with Sonic
Youth, as they have collaborated on a few project,
including one track on a series of EP's the band
released in 2000 or so.
