CDUCTIVE ROCKS!
===============

We are very pleased to announce the grand opening of our indie rock store. Continuing our mission to bring you the best cutting-edge music on custom CD, we have signed exclusive partnerships with many of the best labels on the indie rock scene. Our new specialist store features both the biggest names (Beck, Nirvana, Green Day) and the fastest rising artists (Elliott Smith, Olivia Tremor Control, Modest Mouse).

Check out the indie rock site at the same URL, http://www.cductive.com. We've arranged the indie rock and dance/electronic catalogs separately, but you can mix tracks from both catalogs on the same disc.

WELCOME STRICTLY RHYTHM!
=====================

It is with utmost pride that we announce our partnership with the world's leading dance label, Strictly Rhythm Records. This is the label responsible for fostering the careers of many of the finest artists in dance music - Ultra Nate, Armand van Helden, Josh Wink, Little Louis Vega & Kenny Dope Gonzales (aka Masters at Work), George Morel, Roger Sanchez, the Wamdue Project...the list goes on and on. The label is now celebrating its tenth anniversary and boasts an unparalleled catalog and artist roster.

Strictly has been named indie label of the year for the past five years at the National Dance Music Awards, In addition, Billboard magazine honored Strictly as the number one dance label for 1995 and the number one promotion label for 1996. Also in 1996, Strictly Rhythm was also named Best International Label at The International Dance Music Awards in London.

In our first of several installments, we've loaded this month many of Strictly's classic house anthems. You'll know some by name (Ultra Nate's "Free" or Josh Wink's "Higher State of Consciousness"), and you'll know most if not all when you hear our audio samples. If you've been humming a classic house track to the staff at your local record shop but have left empty-handed, check these out. Chances are you'll find tracks you've been looking for... and discover choice cuts that you may have missed.

EXCLUSIVE PRE-RELEASES FROM ASPHODEL AND NINJA TUNE
=================================================

CDuctive is proud to announce the exclusive pre-release sale of tracks from Ryuichi Sakamoto on Asphodel and from The Irresistible Force (better known as Mixmaster Morris) and The Clifford Gilberto Rhythm Combination on Ninja Tune! These tracks won't be released for several weeks and are now available only at CDuctive!

Ryuichi Sakamoto is one of the more prolific artists of modern times. This award-winning composer and musician has made a career crossing musical and technological boundaries. He has experimented in and excelled in many different musical styles throughout his career, making a name for himself in popular, orchestral, and film music. While Sakamoto has created an abundance of music for film, including his Grammy-nominated and Oscar Award winning score for Bernardo Bertolucci's film "Little Buddha", this, his latest soundtrack for "Love is the Devil" marks yet a new direction for the composer. Asphodel will release the soundtrack on October 6th. By exclusive arrangement, CDuctive is proud to announce the pre-release of four tracks from this record - "Lock", "Bathroom", "Monologue", and "Love is the Devil". Add one or more of these exquisite tracks to your custom CD for a unique record unavailable elsewhere!

Mixmaster Morris hardly needs an introduction. He is one of the UK's most popular DJs and a living encyclopedia of electronic music. Morris's career began on UK pirate radio in 1985 with 'the Mongolian Hip-Hop Show'. Since then he's been the most dynamic force on the UK avant-garde. Over the years, many of the best electronic acts had their first press coverage courtesy of Morris - Aphex Twin, Ken Ishii, Orbital, and Squarepusher to name a few. It's no wonder that Britain's most famous radio DJ, John Peel of BBC Radio One, named Morris as his 'natural successor'. Morris began recording under the name The Irresistible Force in 1987 and released two albums that went to the UK indie top 5 (licensed by Astralwerks and Sony). His recent signing to Ninja Tune marks his return to production after a long hiatus. The recently released single "Nepalese Bliss" (also available here on CDuctive) is already receiving rave reviews. The forthcoming album, entitled "It's Tomorrow Alre!

ady", will be released on September 21st. We are exclusively offering two tracks from this album, the title track and "Power", for purchase now - you won't find them anywhere else!

The Clifford Gilberto Rhythm Combinations is a relatively new act on Ninja Tune, but not one that has gone unnoticed. With two EPs out already, and a couple of tracks on the Funkungfusion compilation, Clifford Gilberto has started to generate quite a buzz. The forthcoming album "I Was Young and I Needed the Money" will be released in early October. Again, we are offering two tracks from this album for purchase now - the title track and "Ms. Looney's Last Embrace". Check these out and be the only kid on the block with unreleased tracks from a rising Ninja star!

MORE NEW MUSIC!
==============
Platipus is the legendary London-based trance label that, as Wax magazine puts it, "has consistently inspired everyone in the dance scene." Currently celebrating its fifth anniversary, the label is famed for pioneering acts such as Union Jack, Art of Trance, Terra Ferma, Quietman, and of course, Robert Miles. Miles was scooped up by BMG offshoot Deconstruction on the merit of his super anthem "Children" which sold several million copies worldwide and single-handedly inspired the "dream house" genre. Platipus is renowned for the quality and consistency of its releases - see for yourself by checking out our audio samples. Many CDuctive fans have been requesting Platipus. It is our pleasure to present you with this outstanding catalog.

Blue Planet , and its sister imprint Silver Planet, are labels on the move. With a strong roster of artists such as Luke Vibert (recording both as Plug and himself), Mike Paradinas (aka u-ziq), Jammin' Unit, The Bowling Green, Sadie Glutz, and Marco Zaffarano, it should be obvious that the label is both cutting-edge and diverse. Blue Planet's compilation series "The State of the Nu-Art" is one of the most critically acclaimed and top selling sets on the electronic market. In fact, Trent Reznor (of Nine Inch Nails/Nothing Records) is one of the label's biggest fans. Don't miss the new tracks from The Bowling Green, with his ferocious breaks and beats, and dubby experimental sounds from Jammin' Unit.

A warm welcome to Clear, a personal favorite of the CDuctive crew and a label Urb magazine calls "one of the UK's most interesting and progressive." This boundary-pushing label has been one of the most exciting to watch over the past twelve months. Its releases have been so experimental and diverse as to make them difficult to categorize. In fact, the only catch-all phrase that can be applied is "quality". The roster includes Kirk Degiorgio ("As One"), Plaid, Morgan Geist, The Lithium Project, Metamatics, and Reflection. Each release has been given top marks by every reviewer worth the ink he writes with. Like we said - quality. We hope you enjoy these as much as we do.

Certificate 18 is a diamond in the rough. Few are familiar with the label or its releases, but most will know the artists it has nurtured. For starters, there's Photek who records under the name "Studio Pressure". Then there's Source Direct who records under the alias "Sounds of Life". There's also Klute, who you will know soon if not already. Add to this exclusive remixes by electronic maestros Autechre, Kirk Degiorgio, and Plaid, and you're definitely wondering why you haven't heard about Certificate 18. Well that's why we at CDuctive are here - to bring you the finest music we can find. It's with great pleasure that we introduce you to this fine label.

Caipirinha Productions is one of those rare enterprises that does several things well, very well. Based in New York, Caipirinha is involved in music, film, and fashion. Now before any chin scratchers out there start reaching for their faces, it must be noted that the record label is one of the most closely watched in the American electronic scene. Spanning many styles, Caipirinha is defining innovation with a strong group of artists - Sum, Khan, Taylor Deupree, Umo, Si Begg (aka Buckfunk 3000, Cabbage Boy), to name a few.Check out these tracks, look for more next month, and keep a close eye on this label!

In addition to our exclusive pre-releases, we have more brand new tracks from Ninja Tune. We've loaded impeccable titles from Amon Tobin's new album "Permutation". In the words of Jockey Slut, "Amon Tobin has laid the fiercest of foundations for a new angle on drum 'n' bass. If 97's 'Bricolage' was the apertif, 'Permutation' is the full blooded main course!" Having seen him spin these new tracks in Miami last week, we at CDuctive couldn't agree more. Also new from Ninja are tracks from Kid Koala & Money Mark and Herbaliser. With this new slew of releases, Ninja proves its beats are more fat than ever.

Wayz of the Dragon! We're making available the finest drum 'n' bass record of the summer. This is the first compilation on Dope Dragon (sister imprint to Full Cycle) and it features tracks by Roni Size, DJ Krust, DJ Die, and DJ Suv - all under various guises (Mask, Bigga Star, 3 Way, Gang Related, and Swabe). We can't tell you who's who, but we can tell you it's intense. The tracks showcase the crew's knack to rock the dancefloor with relentless beats and huge bass, thereby marking a distinct departure from the highly publicized Reprazent sound. It's reassuring to see that fame hasn't led this Bristol collective to forget its roots or the scene that made them successful. As Muzik magazine puts it, "It's bigger and funkier than a rhino in Adidas."

Filter, the label that gave us tracks from DJ Q and Kid Loops last month, is back with more fine releases. Check out The Amalgamation of Soundz, The Fire This Time, Sunship, and others. On The Fire This Time's unique world music meets hip-hop releases, look for special appearances by Chuck D (of Public Enemy), Angela Davis and Tupac's relative Assata Shakur.

Botchit and Scarper has graced us with more new titles. For those who like big crunchy beats, look no further. Look for tracks from Freq Nasty, Kush, Full Moon Scientist, and many more. Perfect for fans of Fused & Bruised.
