REVIEW "stoned...chilled...groove" mixed by Coldcut & Strictly Kev
LABEL:Soul Vibration SVCD01

picked this up at our good ole dropbeat this past weekend.

surprisingly smooth and kicked back for something that coldcut has touched.
found the mix as a whole to be just that.. "stoned..chilled..groove"

first track has a great interesting sample about "all places of
entertainment and areas where large groups may gather are closed until
further notice." interesting way to start off a mix of chilled vibes. a
somewhat erie sample that recalled memories of alfred hitchcock films..
anyone got this and can possibly place the sample?

the Journeyman track stood out amoungst the rest for me. beautiful build
up to a groovy track with a nicely meshed sample of a young girl babbling
something indecipherable. nice flowing rythmns going from the beat back to
the ambience. just a nice smooth track..

the asian dub foundation track was the low point. seemed really out of
place in the mix, decent vibe but a rapping style that just didn't fit the
rest of the disc. maybe it was just me, but the guy's style irriated me
and i wasn't interested in what he had to say. (which was basically
nothing). track really broke the flow of the disc.

but anyway.. for anyone who likes their ambient as well as aj, and loves
to have some grooviness going on in the background.. this mix is well
worth checking out..
