Leading the way for live dance music in the UK...

IN THE MIX - Cheltenham Town Hall, Friday 9th April, Tickets: 01242 227979
A night of serious grooves driven by hard beats: one ticket - two rooms -
four bands:

Main Hall/8pm: The Herbaliser - seven piece band led by Jake Wherry and
Ninja Tune stealthmaster Ollie Teeba. Ther sound lies between turntables and
trombones, updating a deep jazz and hip hop sound with today's producation
techniques, keeping a vibrant feel courtesy of thumping double bass, a horn
section and heavy use of breaks.

Main Hall/10pm: DJ Pogo's Lyrical Lounge - award winning scratch star DJ
Pogo brings to Cheltenham his nine piece Lyrical Lounge crew made up of
bright young jazz stars, free-stylers and MCs including Nikki Yeoh on
keyboards, singer Julie Dexter, MC Ty and Procryptix. Lurical Lounge fill in
the dance floor potential between the esoteric sensibilities of jazz and the
no holds barred approach which governs hip hop.

Pillar Room/8pm: Ambitroniques - jazz goes subterranean for a mind bending
journey through unexplored soundscapes. Hypnotic drum loops sustain snatches
of tunes, combining the propulsion of dance music with the imagination of
jazz. Arguelles, the supple generator of inconceivable rhythms, joins forces
with Parisian piano contortionist Delbecq and REQ of Skint records.

Pillar Room/10pm: Outside - Flamboyant soul and funk from this pianist and
DJ outfit. Jazz piano prodigy Matt Copper joins up with DJ Andreas Allen and
ex-Reggae Philharmic Orchestra violinist Everton Nelson.

TRIBECA - Subtone, Friday 9th April, 9 - 2am, Tickets: 01242 575925
Jazz funk/dance crossover led by vocalist Luddy Samms (James Brown), Neil
Cowley on keyboards (Brand New Heavies), Down to the Bone members Richard
Wargent and Richard Sadler on sax, and Bruce Knapp on guitar, Steve Lamb on
bass. DJ support from Fish and Cass.
