    You can also try to resurrect the CD itself using the DiscDoctor
    gadget, there's also the DataDoctor and DVDDoctor they all do the
    same thing--you put the CD into the device, turn the crank and it
    sands down a layer or two past the scratch, I haven't tried it
    extensivly but, it seem to work. Cost is around $30.
