('binary' encoding is not supported, stored as-is) >Ok, so I just picked up the debut CD by Nikka Costa, and I've been listening to it for a week now. I really like it. In spirit, it reminds me of the first Mary J. Blige album, where the imperative was a seamless blending of hip hop and soul. In execution, I am reminded of the first Maxwell album because of diversity of vocal styles, off-kilter pop songwriting, and funky grooves. This is much better than that really disappointing Anastacia LP.<

I agree here. I had hope for Anastacia. Great voice, but the songs go nowhere.

Apparently this is Nikka Costa's 4th album, she released two as a kid, and one a few years ago in Australia. eBay has been popping up with a number of her early singles and whatnot.
