hello... enter yet another listee who's been quiet for a looong time. :)

About use of the word tribal... isn't this word one of many, adopted out
of an inability and desire to convey the idea of "the cosmic dance"...
or whatever you want to call it... that which happens while sweating
your ass off in a large group of people (tribe), letting everything go,
time stands still, and you feel human?

All that is nothing but positive... no? If anything, use of the word
tribal could be viewed as an homage paying of sorts. Don't get me wrong,
i'm most definitely not condoning its use to group together all music
containing congas!!! However, certain terms seem necessary for those who
don't have the interest in roots or "world music" yet need to get these
ideas across. Ignorant, probably... but is it racist and worthy of a
    tongue lashing?

Lets reinvestigate the idea of coming up with a new name for acid
jazz... we might be pissing off some dude in a tie-die, sitting on his
couch watching Monty Python's Flying Circus in the negative... ;)
